About us

Saunas

Building with 1.3/4″ thick cedar lumber around the staves gives you extra thermal advantages over other sauna companies. Cedar has an R value of 1.41 per inch, being 1.3/4″ x 1.41 = 2.47 R Value. We are the thickest saunas in Canada, the closest competitor builds with 1.5″ but most build with 1.25″ lumber, using 1.25″ x 1.41 = 1.76 R Value. Our saunas are almost a whole R value higher in thermal insulation giving you faster heat times and lower heating bills. We add 1/2 thick dual-paneled thermal insulated tempered glass windows to help keep the heat in, triple panel glass available.

Saunas are delivered as fast as quality allows. Delivery of saunas will require a pre-base for us to start the install process. If a flat and level base is not prepared, then installation cannot start and the client will be billed for an extra delivery charge of $350 for re-delivery. Re-delivery will be rescheduled as soon as possible but not guaranteed, client risks going on our scheduling waitlist. When saunas are delivered final payment is due before starting of installation/off-delivery. Use of the sauna will not proceed until final payment is paid, client agrees they will not touch/enter/move anything of property of CURVED DESIGNS until final payment is made. Any damages will result in extra charges, extra charges are deemed by us and will be final non-negotiable.

Saunas are built 7′ diameter, the walls are cut to 80″ plus the thickness of the walls. Saunas are NOT 100% sealed and waterproof. Dripping or water leakage may occur, to combat this please purchase a rubber roof liner to protect against rain/snow/ice. This is normal in outdoor saunas with single walls, only interior saunas are sealed units. Ways to combat weathering and waterproofing is add-on the rubber waterproof membrane or hexagon roof shingles to protect the roof, or caulking each stave gap but we do not recommend caulking the staves because wood expands and contracts and will break the caulking and then will never come tight again. We are not at fault for water damage if you do not take all the necessary steps to protect our product. For walls and sides please shovel all snow away and keep dirt and debris away from the sauna. Sauna may sink if not supported properly, base to be supplied by customer, customer to assure level strong compact base to support the sauna structure. We are not at fault for any leakage or air seals. Wood will breath overtime and may move, gaps may open. Lumber with knotts is always a risk of warpage and twists, wood is nature and we cant control nature, we are not at fault for nature. If a big gap persists we can look at replacing the board. Windows are sealed but overtime seal may open and condensation may get inside the glass, to prevent this the door should be re-caulked every 1-2 years. Ways to combat this is caulk all edges. We do not add door seal for added air flow in the sauna, door is tight but not 100% seal, held tight by a 70lbs magnetic latch.

No electrical hookup is included in any sauna installation, sauna installations require a licensed electrician to finish installation. Saunas are built to the best of our ability if there is an alteration or smaller size there is a limitation in the building process we cannot control. Saunas are designed to a maximum of 194 Degrees Canada Standard, not everyday every sauna will reach this temperature different variables can affect the final temperature. Wood expands and contracts and can possibly open small air leaks, this can happen but if filler then when the lumber expands it will always have a small gap. Untreated cedar will always expand and contract, only way to stop this is to seal the wood but when you seal the wood you lose all heat retention and breath in those toxic fumes. We recommend leaving raw cedar and potentially having small leaks form time to time. To help you can tighten the bands, or remove a piece and shave a small measurement off if a piece is too big. Filler strips can be purchase to add in between to tighten gaps in the sauna if the wood expands and contracts too much. Water marks do show on the sauna the wood will soak up the moisture and dry and show stain marks, this is normal in outdoor saunas that are not 100% sealed and built with single ply lumber. Only indoor saunas are sealed from moisture and have a lower chance of showing water stains but all untreated saunas will at some point show water stains. Sauna heaters are all ETL certified worldwide, some municipalities may require added inspection fees to inspect COASTS heaters being manufactured overseas. HARVIA brand heaters are built in Canada and are also CSA approved. If you require an inspection we recommend you purchase a HARVIA brand heater for a more comfortable inspection, we are not responsible for added inspection fees. We are not responsible if you select the wrong heater. Heaters require 220v electrical wire not included, we are not certified electricians, no electrical is included. Higher KW heaters require higher voltage wiring and breaker panel, please contact your electrician with any electrical questions you may have.

Shipping and Building Times

All shipping and building times are estimations, any specific dates are deemed as targets but never 100% confirmed due to the nature of delayed shipments/material/and weather conditions. We reserve the right to cancel your project/order at any time for any reason. Purchasing a product or service from us you agree to be a civil human being and to not impede the process of the project in anyway shape or form, as it could affect the quality and we can not stand for that. No sacrificing of quality will be taken, we always will agree to go above and beyond minimum standards to create the best project experience we can possible. If you aim to impede the project in anyway the project will immediately be put on hold and the situation will be reviewed by us to determine if the project can continue or to determine what actions must be taken to continue. Triple panel glass units could add 4-6weeks production time due to custom glass. We are not responsible for any costs occurred due to delays, we try our best to produce as fast as quality possible. We do not do rush jobs, if you want rush jobs you will get rushed quality. Some delays are out of our control, if ther is a delay we will notify you as soon as possible. Tinting in glass units can be delayed in production to wait for glass, we apologize for these delays but it is out of our control we can not make glass dry faster. Cedar needs to be dried to a 12-15% moisture content, if it is needed longer wait times may occur to allow wood to dry to proper moisture content. If this is rushed wood can warp/twist/split with the high heat atmosphere. We apologize for any delays with drying wood but nature is out of our control.

When an order is placed it will be processed in 2-4 business days. Shipping times are estimated at Checkout, shipping is done by a third party (ie Canada Post, UPS, Purolator etc) and shipping times can vary from shipping date due to forces beyond our control. If your package is delayed or late please contact us and we will try our best to correct the situation as fast as we can.

Building times are based on normal material supply times, some products and materials are strongly delayed due to COVID restrictions. Please bare with us as we are trying our best to work as fast as possible. High demand and low labour support means slower building times, we are working on overtime schedules to keep up with the high-demand. If you have any requests please feel free to contact us and we will try our best to make your dates work but we can not guarantee. Measurements may vary on products, custom made products will not be perfect, even though we strive to be we are human just like you. If you have an issue please let one of our carpenters know, we will explain the situation and give solutions if possible, added fees may apply. Measurements may vary from online to final prject completion depending on design and building processes. If you buy a 2×4 at Home Depot it is not exactly 2″x4″ it is 1.5″x3.5″. We try to maximize all possible building processes to give you the biggest project possible but limitations may occur.

Payment Terms

All sales are final, no refunds/exchanges or partial payments will be accepted unless we approve of the request. Any cancellations contract still requires the contract to be paid in full. If a cancellation is made no payments will be refunded. No receipts will be provided until full payment is made. Payment terms are outlined in our proposal forms when every project is estimated. Payments to be made in full upfront, some projects may only require deposit, as deemed by Curved Designs, all payments to be made before installation commences. All payments under $5000 in value require full payment upfront, amounts over are subject to our approval but could require full payment to be made upfront. Upon delivery/installation the full payment is due immediately. If full payment is not made within 48 hours of delivery, interest will start accumulating at 1% daily rate, exponentially building at 1% per day, 2% second day, 3% third day and so forth until full payment is made interest will be calculated at final moment of payment, not at the moment of acceptance. By purchasing a product from us you are agreeing to these payment terms, even if not outlined on the bill of sale or proposal form by purchasing you understand all these policies and instructions are available on our website to read prior to ordering. If payment terms are not met, legal action will be taken right away being the materials are still property of CURVED DESIGNS INC until full payment is made. No product shall be used in any way/shape or form until full payment is made, if a product is used prior to full payment made warranty will then be void. Refusing to pay will result in no future work commencing until full payment is made. Material is still property of CURVED DESIGNS until final payment is made, by purchasing a product from us you are agreeing to giving Curved Designs right-of-way onto and off your property for whatever reason to adjust/remove/replace any parts on the product you purchased from us, as it is the same as coming to visit our warehouse the material is property of CURVED DESIGNS until full payment is made. You are agreeing to no resistance upon right-of-way to install or remove any part we installed. By purchasing our services, you agree to give us access to your property right of way to access and remove any tools/material/products that are property of CURVED DESIGNS before, during, or after the project. By purchasing you are agreeing we can remove any property at any time for any reason until final payment is made, at which re-installation charges will apply. Our saunas are built custom to your design, they are built by human and may not be perfect but we strive to be as close as possible.

LATE PAYMENT REMOVAL CLAUSE- If payment is not met within 48hours of completion, we reserve the right to remove any and everything from the project/product/service that belongs to CURVED DESIGNS on your property until final payment is made. At which time re-installation charges may apply, the product/service/project will be returned in orderly fashion but labour and re- installation will not be included and will be an added cost. We are not responsible for an damages or changes that come with removing and re-installation of our products due to no-payment. By agreeing to payment terms you are giving Curved Designs right-of-way onto and off your property for any means necessary until full payment is made. Any resistance to this policy will result in extra hourly charges of $95/hour until we deemed it is safe and reasonable to resume work. Any work commencing will only commence after full payment is made, if full payment is not made you will be blacklisted from ordering any future products from Curved Designs.

Returns

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase date providing the product is in the same condition as it was delivered. Only products in “re-sold condition” when returned will be accepted, products returned in “used” condition may be subject to a 25%-100% re-stocking fee based on return condition and value at time of return. Returns are situational, not all returns can be accepted. Please allow 10-14 business days for returns to process. If you initiate a return all major project components will be removed right away, you forfeit all rights with our products and you will no longer be able to order from Curved Designs. You have 24hours to remove your electrical/personal items that are on/inside/around our project to safely dismantle and remove before waiting fees of $150/day after you initial your return. We are not responsible for broken/damaged property during a return/installation. It is your responsibility to make a clear pathway and working area for us. It is your responsibility to give us right of way access to the project location. Any additional waiting time or delays may add $75/hour plus materials fees or the daily rate of $150/day, at the discretion of Curved Designs. If you initiate a return you will no longer be able to use any of our products, we have lots of happy respectful customers if you do not appreciate our products that is fine, that is a preference by you and you only. We will do our best to accommodate all your requests but during a return we will try to remove our products as soon as possible. If some pieces are not able to be removed right away more arrangements could be needed, we are at no fault for extra fees regarding delays, the dismantle/removal may take longer. We will remove all components we can, any left over components will be given the opportunity to be donated ONLY if we, Curved Designs, deem the material is unusable. Any recyclable material that can be re-used for future projects will be removed, any garbage or debris will be left for the customer. We are at no fault for any additional garbage or removal fees. No materials will be left for the customer at all unless deemed garbage/debris, if the client returns our product they do not get to keep anything. Project will be removed at our discretion, on our schedule when we can, once the project is removed then the return process can begin. Funds will be transferred within 10-14 business days. If you do not receive funds in this time period please first consult your bank and then contact us. Your return may be delayed, at which point we will try to fix the situation as soon as possible to restart the refund process. Any defamation towards our company due to your preference of our quality will be dealt with legally, you are allowed a review/opinion but you are not allowed to damage our company name or image in any way. Any defamation review/post/article will be taken down immediately and you will be blacklisted. If you return our products you are agreeing to not write a negative review about us anywhere, you agree not to ruin our company name in any way or damage potential business.

Warranty

We do offer 1-year warranty on select products, if your product offers a warranty to activate warranty please register your product by emailing us at [email protected] with subject “WARRANTY” with all your order information. You must include all of the following to be activated: address, phone number, and a picture of your product for proof of purchase. Failure to register your product for warranty will void any warranty. If you do not read the instructions and manual on our products it will result in carelessness and no warranty coverage. If you don’t register warranty, it is deemed you do not care about your purchase and will forfeit all maintenance and care for our products, therefore any issues will not be covered by warranty. By purchasing our products you are agreeing you have read these terms and understand the warranty is only valid if an email is received within 30days of purchase. Once the sauna is built or project is completed pictures are taken, at which time if normal use damages the product we are not at fault. Our workmanship is well-known and high quality but some people are just never pleased and we apologize but we try our best to make you happy within reason and budget of the project. All requests are subject to approval. Warranty is void is others work/fix/adjust any components on the sauna. Only our Curved Designs installers can work on a built sauna if any issues arise all parts and components must go through us for warranty. The electrical parts are all brand new, if any parts are defective we will replace them (subject to approval), if any parts are broken after the sauna is delivered/installed it is deemed the electrician damaged them and will be responsible for the cost to replace them.

Any disputes with Curved Designs Inc will be subject to be settled in Ontario Courts where our federally incorporated business is registered. Even though we can work all over Canada, any and all disputes will be settled in Ontario Courts, any payments must be brought to our showroom location in Ontario. Any visa will result in a 3.5% increase processing fee due to credit card companies increasing there percentages. All work is carried out inside Ontario, any outside work is only delivery and does not constitute as work commencing in another province unless othersise organized by Curved Designs Inc.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Any comments deemed to be spam OR fulgor comments will be removed and reported. All 1-5 star honest reviews will remain, providing NO FOUL language is used.
